N-gage "System Error"

Just a short bit of info here. I tried to install the latest version of the N-gage application on my N96 earlier today and kept getting a System error whenever I tried to start it. Nothing would load at all.

Luckily, there is a very easy way to fix this problem, the cause of which is really silly.


Go to Tools–> Settings in your device :

Go to “Network” or “Connections” :

Go into your access points list (in phones such as the N95, N82 and before), or “Destinations” in the N96 and other Feature pack 2 phones, and make sure none of your Access Point names have a “ ” that is, there should be no quotation marks (single or double), commas, hyphens or any special symbols in their names.

In my case, one of them did, and that was why the N-gage application wasnt starting. Dont ask me how this is related to the N-gage application, because I have no idea. All I know is, this is a very common problem and this was found to be the cause of it so far lol.

In my case I had to change my Wifi’s name from “Cjs Kingdom” to “Cjs Kingdom” by removing the ” ” character.

Once you remove that, it should work fine. Hopefully. Atleast if it was the same case as mine. Go Over and select your N-gage Application and it should load this time :

I reported this problem to the N-gage Team way back with the first version of the N-gage application but it still seems like it hasnt been fixed, even with this latest version of the N-gage application.

    That was great thanks, the only note is that my internet access point was not the culprit it was the name of my wireless connection itself (again i had named it with an apostaphy) – went into wlan wizard and changed the name in there – sorted!

    Is it the US version of the N95-8gb ? Did you recently install/uninstall Emtube ?

    Tbh I’ve never had a problem like yours at all. You might want to check out the N-gage Arena Forums and pm the admin there called “Congested”. Hes the head honcho and should be able to find the source of your problem.

    When you uninstall N-Gage apps, your game will be removed too. If your reinstall, the game still there. But, you cannot reinstall with old version. you only can update the N-Gage apps.

    Better solution, Hard reset (by pressing *#7780#) your phone, install the proper version as in http://www.n-gage.com (http://www.n-gage.com/ngi/etc/medialib/ngage/web/common/downloads/app.Par.21954.File.dat/n-gage_v1.10_1345.sisx latest build 1345)

    RM-320 – Supported Firmware 10.0.021, 15.0.015, 30.0.018, 31.0.05, and 20.0.016

    RM-321 – Supported Firmware: 31.1.004 but Not Supported: 20.1.011

    RM-421 – Supported Firmware: 20.2.005 but Not Supported: 1.2.011

    Check your firmware by pressing *#0000#

    As Cj said, congested will try to help you there. Me also helping them there as my experience :)

    So, try the method above 1st. And tell me what error you get later.
