Mobile phone makers agree to create standard MicroUSB charger
The Leading mobile phone manufacturers, including Nokia, LG, Motorola and Samsung, announced earlier today, that they have agreed to produce a standardised charger for the Mobile industry, in a move to save money for consumers and reduce waste. The standardised charger plug is the much loved microUSB plug.
The new charger will also be more energy efficient than current offerings. There are already phones which charge from microUSB (like the N85), and the aim is to make most new models use the standard chargers by 2012.
