First Look at Nokia Messaging for S60 V5

Over the week, we were lucky to get a sneak peak at an early version of Nokia Messaging for S60v5 devices like the 5800, N97, etc. Nokia Messaging is Nokia’s Push Enabled Email Client for their S60 Devices.

Initially I figured I’d write a detailed post looking at this version of Nokia Messaging, but it looks like that wont be needed at all.

First up, you should probably check out the preview of Nokia Messaging on the 5800 XM by Ricky over at Symbian-Guru. Like Ricky, I too was disappointed to see that there was no Homescreen Integration at all. Hopefully they’ll add that in before they release the application.

Overall, I am pretty impressed with Nokia Messaging on S60v5. All the icons are large and finger-friendly so you’ll probably never need to use the stylus. I was slightly disappointed to see that some features of the new version of Nokia Messaging for S60 v3 like HTML support, etc were not on this version. But this is still a very early copy of Nokia Messaging and no doubt these features will eventually be available on it before the application is released (Hopefully with that Homescreen Support we were talking about earlier).
