Enable awesome Transition effects on your Nokia N97

First of, I’d like to apologies to you, our readers for the lack of updates lately. I’ve been down with a bit of the Flu and its been a tough one to kick lol. Nonetheless I’m feeling much better now, not a hundred percent but hopefully in the coming days I’ll be back to the awesomeness that is Teh Cj :P

When the Nokia N97 was announced, all the way until it was actually released, we saw a ton of videos showing how cool the UI Transitions were. Unfortunately, Nokia decided to pull most of these transitions out of the device for reasons unknown. Probably for ram/cpu related reasons.

Anywho, luckily DSCOBSCT and DAVEYP187 of SF Fame have managed to play around with the N97 and find ways to enable some really awesome new transitions in rotation, between menus and such.

Vaibhav over at theSymbianBlog has put together an awesome tutorial on how to enable the transitions yourself, which I tried and successfully did to my own N97.
(Note: you’ll have to hack your N97 to do so. We take no responsibility about what you do to your device)

The Transitions are really cool, and there are several types ranging from “Zoom out-in” types to the ol’ “Menu Swipe” type.

Here is a video, also by TheSymbianBlog, showing off the transitions :

So what do you think ? I have to say, my N97 is kinda more “fun” to use with the transitions. Although, of course, there are minor slowdowns here and there which are expected. Nothing too bad though.

Have you managed to check out these Transitions on your N97 ? Do let us know !

is there any way to disable these 'transition effects' on the n900. i can't stand all this iphone-like multi-touch swoosh objects-moving-on-the-screen style transistions. i want stuff to appear straight away.
