Nokia 5530 XpressMusic gets a Firmware update to version 20.0.080

Thanks to AAS, we’ve come to know that the good ol’ Nokia 5530 XpressMusic got a firmware update recently, to v20.0.080. It’s previous version was v11.0.054.

The 5530 does have UDP (User Data Preservation), so while its always a good idea to backup all your data before the firmware update, none of your programs or data should be affected with the update.

Remember you can update using the 5530’s OTA (Over-The-Air) feature, or if you prefer you can download Nokia’s Software Updater application to update your 5530 on your windows PC.

If there’s no new firmware detected for your device yet, it might be because it hasnt reached your region product code yet, or maybe your device is carrier branded. It should roll out to all product codes eventually though.

There’s no actual changelog out yet, but you might want to check out the thread on AllaboutSymbian to stay updated on any findings.

    Hey there ! Have you checked to see whether your rotation sensor settings are on ? :) That might have been switched off or something during the update maybe.

    my problem after updating my firmware: i turn automatic time update off and set the time manually but for some stupid reason every time i turn the phone on and off the time either goes back an hour or completely changes…

    if anyone can help would be greatly appreciated

    Hi there… My problem on updating my 5530xm is the installation itself.. I always encounter disconnection on my phone to my pc whenever I start the installation update… But the instructions says “do not bother on the disconnection notification of the pc”… And end up into a device recovery… I could not update my phone… Could someone help?? Already update to V20?

    Weird problem there James. The hard way could be to uninstall all PC Suite software and drivers for your device and re-install them to try again ?
    Otherwise you could just update OTA from your device using Wifi maybe ?

    Yaaahhh!!!! Good advice there Clinton Jeff… I already had updated my 5530xm to v20 using wifi… So I already had the chance to experience the new improved version of v20… Nothing much to mention about the v20, except for the fact that it is more faster than the v11… And I think someone had already mentioned above all what is expected to be in the v20 … Now I'm happy that I already had updated my phone to v20… It's faster than before… Thank you for the reply Clinton… Hope I could still get some other advice from u, if I encounter another problem or questions might be regarding my phone… tnx!!! :)

    @Joana, i use to have that same prob, it only lasted about 2 days though. i did nothing to my phone just used my headphones to make or receive calls,then it started working fine without me having to use them anymore…

    Same thing happens with my 5530 after the latest update! Don't know if it's a coincidence but every time I switch off the phone, time goes backwards 3 hours. Maybe it's linked to the fact that my region is actually GMT -3??? Help appreciated!
