Nokia Holder Easy Mount HH-20 and CR-116/117 : A Quick Review

Nokia India recently started offering a free car kit with the Nokia N97 Mini and Nokia 5230 in India.

We thought this was a pretty sweet sounding dealio, but we didnt know for sure. Until they dropped one off for us to do a quick review.

The Nokia Car kit that ships with the Nokia N97 Mini (in India), comes with the Nokia Holder Easy Mount HH-20, the CR-116/117, and the DC-6 Car Charger.

The DC-6 is your basic Car Charger with a microUSB tip for the Nokia N97 Mini. It plugs into the N97 Mini at the lower left side (Bottom in landscape view) so it doesnt interfere with your car holder.

There’s also a green transcluecent led underneath the Nokia branding, that lits up when you plug the DC-6 into your car’s outlet, so that you know it’s switched on.

Like we mentioned earlier, you also get the Nokia Holder Easy Mount HH-20 and the CR-117.

The CR-117 seems to be sturdy enough. Build Quality seems pretty good albeit all made out of hard plastic. There’s also a lock switch that allows you to place a device (such as the N97 Mini or 5230) into it, and ‘lock’ it into the CR-117.

The Lock switch is right at the back of the CR-117 and is a simple sliding mechanism.

You slide your N97 Mini into the CR-117.

Once you have the N97 Mini in, you can “lock” it closed with the switch at the back.

The Switch when closed, makes sure your N97 Mini stays put and safe in the CR-117. Something that you’d want to ensure in a moving vehicle.

When you’re done, you can unlock it to take out your N97 Mini. Also on the back is the part of the CR-117 that latches onto the HH-20.

All you have to do is place it on the HH-20 and rotate it clockwise (just a bit, till you near a faint click).

The HH-20 is quite nice and has a suction base mount, that allows you to ‘lock‘ the suction on, once you’ve attached it, by twisting the base according to the markings.

This allows it to be securely attached to a surface.

Like we mentioned earlier, you attach the CR-117 to the HH-20 by placing it on and moving it clockwise.

From then on, you can keep moving it clockwise, or tilt it up or down to adjust your view.

You can choose to either place it on your dashboard, or have it hang off your car windshield.

Pretty cool, eh?

All in all, the Car kit is a pretty sturdy set, and makes the N97 Mini seem like an even better deal in India right now.

Remember y’all, you get this same car kit with all versions of the N97 Mini, not just the white edition. The Nokia 5230 comes with the same car kit, minus the Charger, from what I’ve heard (Again, this is all in India only).
