Nokia India planning to sell Rs 500 Low-Cost Mobile

According to the Economic Times, Nokia might launch a very very low cost handset in the Indian Market soon, in relation to their Nokia Lifetools program.

Nokia is planning to back its recent initiative for rural India —Nokia Life Tools— by launching handsets at the sub-Rs 1,000 price point.

The Finnish telecom major is also looking at launching a limited number of sets at the Rs 500 price point. The company, which has been selling phones under micro-finance in select rural markets, might just make a breakthrough in rural India’s mobile telephony.

This is pretty much a sure way to penetrate the low-end market and make sure almost everyone has a mobile phone.

At the risk of sounding Fanboy-ish, way to go Nokia !
