Symbian S60 gets an Official YouTube App
About time too! We just received word that an Official Native (.sisx) YouTube Application, has been released for S60 3rd Edition (Feature pack one and newer) devices.
Update : An official list of supported devices can be found here.

Surprisingly, there was no official announcement by Google about this app, but it’s great to see them support Symbian users. Luckily the guys at E71Fanactics.com found it for us.
Update: The Official YouTube Blog just posted about it here. Check out the video below :

The YouTube Application is pretty fast, has cool animations and transitions and is really easy to use.
It’s worth mentioning that the YouTube app relies on heavy data usage, so keep that in mind when you’re using it with your network data plan.
To download the application, go to www.YouTube.com with your phone browser. You should see a “Download the YouTube Application” link right at the top.

If you dont see the link (silly country restrictions), just head on down to the bottom of the page, and change your country to “WorldWide“. When the page refreshes, you should see the link.

Download the Application (800kb, goes to 2mb approx on installation), and when it asks for your Country, choose US or UK and you should be on your way to enjoying YouTube content on your Symbian S60 device !
